Accident magnet

There are a couple ways to tell it's summer in this city: the mosquito
bites, the magnolia's slippery petals on the ground, down pours, an
uptick in the crime rate, and there always seems to be an increase in
traffic accidents in my neighborhood. At least once or twice month
there is an accident at the corner of 12th and Independence when
people don't stop crossing Indy. It's traumatic if it didn't happen so
often.
