As most of you know, Eastern Market is the public market in my neighborhood. (Wait, maybe I'm in its neighborhood.) It was badly damaged in an early morning electrical fire in late April 2007. Since the fall of 2007 the vendors that were inside took up residence in a temporary structure across the street. Now the Market is preparing to reopen this September, so last week when I was walking home form work, I slowed my trot and snapped these two photos.
The temporary structure has proved such a success that there has been a rumor that the vendors are reluctant to take up their original positions in the refurbished building.
